[From the desk of Paul Davis – his opinions and no-one else’s]
Apart from the reporter’s opinions 😉
Obviously, the big news is suspected hack of the OPM
So onto the news:

Cisco, Aruba roll out 802.11ac Wave 2 products, but who’s buying?

Cisco and Aruba are the latest networking companies to introduce 802.11ac Wave 2 access points that experts say enterprises are unlikely to buy in large numbers for some time.

Cisco’s and Aruba’s wireless transceivers provide all the benefits of the latest Wi-Fi standard, which include throughputs comparable to wired Internet connections and support for more mobile devices than any wireless standard of the past. Unfortunately, taking full advantage of Wave 2 often requires expensive infrastructure changes few businesses will consider until they use up the bandwidth available from cheaper Wave 1 access points (APs).

Tenable Network Security Extends Capabilities of Nessus Agents to Assure Security across Complex IT Environments

COLUMBIA, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tenable Network SecurityÂŽ, Inc., the leader in continuous network monitoring, today announced extended OS support for NessusÂŽ Agents to help IT security architects, analysts and system administrators reduce the attack surface and gain visibility into systems that are off-limits or challenging for vulnerability assessments.

Nessus Agents, now with support for Mac OS X and Red Hat/CentOS Linux, address key challenges of traditional network-based scanning, and reduce an organization’s attack surface by scanning assets that are off the network or powered-down during scheduled assessments. They close the scanning gap for laptops and other portable devices that come and go from the network, and remove the need for password updates and ongoing credential management for network assets during vulnerability assessments.

CliQr Integrates CloudCenter Application Migration and Management Platform With Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

SAN DIEGO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/08/15 — Today at Cisco Live, Cisco’s annual IT and communications conference, CliQr, the leading application-defined cloud management platform provider, announces integration of its CloudCenter platform with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). The solution, which will be demonstrated at Booth #1106, creates an IT industry-leading solution that capitalizes on application relevancy to automate and optimize the end-to-end provisioning of infrastructure. The combination of CliQr and ACI reduces total cost of ownership, automates IT tasks and accelerates data center application deployments. Cisco ACI accomplishes this using a business-relevant software defined networking (SDN) policy model across networks, servers, storage, security and services. The integration of ACI with CloudCenter facilitates the deployment and management of the full application stack, leading to new levels of IT efficiency, security and control, all based on
the specific characteristics and needs of the application. CloudCenter integrates with ACI to deliver a single, intuitive environment where users can easily create standard application profiles. These profiles one-click-automate the provisioning of infrastructure resources — including compute, storage and, now, ACI’s network configurations and settings — along with the deployment of the application and its full complement of required components on physical, virtual or cloud environments.

CliQr and Cisco address one of IT’s biggest challenges, the costs and complexities associated with the ever-increasing pace in which businesses are deploying new and modifying existing applications across today’s very diverse infrastructure environments. Rather than the traditional approach of manually forcing applications to conform to a variety of changing physical, virtual and cloud environments, the CloudCenter platform automates the dynamic provisioning of optimal infrastructure through Cisco’s Application Policy Infrastructure Controller, enabling resources and settings based on the application needs, which leads to new levels of operational efficiency and security.
